Being needy never feels right. There is a discord that
vibrates within your existence (in the recognized form of resistance) when
there is a pulling and life sucking expression being worked up in you. That pulling and life sucking expression being
your spirits rightful response to a desperate act that is not only out of line
with how we are to rightfully live our lives, but also a desperate consumption
of what is not rightfully ours.
We are not designed to be relational consumers; we are designed to be relational investors… And that’s why we feel desperate, annoying, and like crap when we unnecessarily and forcefully take from other people. That’s also why we somehow feel full and satisfied when we forget about ourselves, and devote ourselves to just simply loving and giving to others. If we position ourselves in a place of gratitude, and allow our wholeness to come from pure love and service to others, we find that our “needs” simply don’t matter. Because the truth is if we are busy taking care of others, the light is busy taking care of us. And this whole “getting our needs met” phenomenon that our culture has defined will only ever keep our needs from being met.
To add, you know when you are being needy because it is not an expression of the true needs of your heart; you are expressing a craving for self centered attention. Again, our true needs are met when we are living in a state of perpetual love and service to others. Never dwelling on, or using our words to express our complaints or shallow longings, but only to express all that is freeing, uplifting and life giving. For neediness does not exist there, only fulfillment. Because that's where the love we need is given back to us without us even searching or trying :)
