I say
division is your religion as sort of a play on words, not just for your actual religion
(which is definitely included), but for all of the social constructs we’ve
placed ourselves in, that in a sense, have become our religion in regards to the
way they divide us from others. The second you label yourself or someone else
as anything, be aware of what you are creating… Because it will create
division, whether or not it’s your intention.
Whether it
is our desire to be divided from others or not, the second it is made aware
that you or someone else is *enter in whatever you’ve labeled yourself as here*
(vegan, Christian, gay etc.) the energy in a relationship or encounter
automatically shifts and changes. Because once it’s clear that you or someone
else is “different”, you are no longer on the same playing field, no longer in
the realm of exploring something together. Instead you are now two separates, operating
on a different belief system on whatever the particular subject.
These types
of encounters are more damaging than we realize, because quite frankly we have
a world full of people that are divided and it is creating havoc. To make
matters worse, we are not divided simply by chance, we have created it. We have created division by the labels we
place on ourselves and other people, thus leading us to feel threatened by the
awareness that we are different; birthing a position in every one of us that naturally
creates separation. Rather than growing, exploring, and working together, we
have now become focused on trying to be right, convince others of what we
believe in, or do things our way. We think we’re doing a service to the world
by enlightening others with our truth, but really we have just become
hard-headed and closed off.
Sadly as soon as we enter into this position
we lose something that is vital to our existence, because a huge part of our
design as humans is relating with others, learning from others, growing with others…
And the second that stops, a part of our soul dies. I feel that we are losing
our souls both individually, and collectively. All from this division we have
created by hanging on so tight to our “religions”.
This world,
from the state of global affairs, right down to the people we relate with
everyday, desperately needs unity. And unity truly requires a willingness to be
open, and to view everything and everyone as equal. We need to learn to value
and respect all living beings, and honor everyone for their unique opinions. Because truth is we need every opinion, we need every
thought, because let’s be honest… If any of us were right, we would have saved
the world and had our s*!@ together by now. But the fact is we don’t, and we
need to be one with others if we dare to have any significant impact on this
planet.
So the moral
of this story is simply to try to remember to be open. Be filled with grace,
love, compassion, and understanding for others no matter how different they are
in their beliefs, or what label or title they are wearing. Choose to learn from
people, and explore with them, rather than dividing yourself because you think that
you are right. Let's bond over nothing more or nothing less than being human, and our need for each other underneath it all. Only together can we do anything so...
Think wisely next time you are tempted to proclaim your religion, aim to create love and unity, not division.
