Thanks to modern media, we now live in a globalized world
where there is fortunately transparency in almost all regards. It’s rare that
any violation of the rights of all living beings goes unnoticed nowadays. As a
result, we no longer have the privilege of ignorance, and making irresponsible decisions
birthed out of a simple lack of knowledge. To anyone that chooses to inform
themselves, it is very clear and easy to discover the inexcusable plight that
is continually revealing itself around the world.
I truly do my best to focus on all of the good that is happening,
for I believe that everything has an opposite equal. However, when we choose to
ignore problems, it usually only makes the problem worse. With that being said,
I feel that it is our responsibility as humans to be educated about the
unethical practices of the world, and more importantly to do something about
it.
Humans (nor animals) are disposable. Every single living
being on this planet is of intrinsic value. Every single being has something
beautiful to offer and give. Every single being matters and is here for a
purpose. And when we treat them like objects, something in both their and our spirit
dies. We are all one, and we don’t make irresponsible decisions or mistreat
others without consequence. What we do
unto others, we do onto ourselves. And
what we do unto ourselves, we do unto others. It’s time we start treating
ourselves with dignity and respect, by fighting for and treating our sisters
all around the world with dignity and respect too.
Let’s put faces and feelings to our objects, let’s make
purchases with considerable thought and awareness. Our integrity lies sometimes
in the smallest of solutions. But as you practice a more conscious and
sustainable way of being, you will find that the little things add up. And the
quality of your character will begin to reap reward that contributes far beyond
the perimeters of your own existence.
If you have any interest in anything I just said, do
yourself a favor and watch the movie linked above :)
